Introducing Goleta Chiropractor Dr. Robert Swink
I have two maternal uncles that are chiropractors in Colorado that sparked my interest in the chiropractic profession. Most of my high school days I suffered from chronic low back pain, especially during sports. I remember how I felt after my first adjustment, I immediately had less pain and it was easier to move. I also remember being astonished in learning that the body could actually heal itself when aligned properly.
On family visits throughout my upbringing, my uncles shared their chiropractic experiences, their patient testimonials, and I received chiropractic adjustments. I took note on how they were both so exhilarated about their careers and their ability to help people with their health needs. They both encouraged me to look into chiropractic as a profession. Already having a very strong interest in basic sciences and nutrition I decided, upon graduating from high school, that I too wanted to be a chiropractor.

After completing my undergraduate studies, I attended Cleveland Chiropractic College Los Angeles, California where I learned a strong emphasis on chiropractic philosophy. After attending for one year I decided to go to the foundation head of chiropractic, Palmer College of Chiropractic, in Davenport, Iowa. During my four years at Palmer, I studied x-ray diagnosis, examination protocols, adjusting techniques, advanced biochemistry, and extensive human anatomy, physiology, and pathology. At first I had great apprehension about touching a person’s body, however, the many many hours spent in student clinic, taking care of real life patients, helped settle this fear. I took great pride in seeing the patient's get instant relief from pain. I could not wait to adjust as many people as I could. In December 1972 I graduated from Palmer Chiropractic College. Being from California I decided to get away from the rain and cold of Iowa and moved back home.
I was born in Iowa, and raised from age five in Redondo Beach, California. . I decided to move to Ventura, California where I eventually met my wife Sandy. We have been married for 35 years. Sandy helped open my practice in 1975 and has worked by my side, as my business manager, all our married life. We have two children, Ryan is a chiropractor, Tara, is a hairstylist. I enjoy racquetball, gardening, and working out. Sandy and I like family outings, antique shopping, sightseeing, and bike riding. Our Chihuahua, Simon, spoils us rotten by taking us on long walks and to the beach. Dr. Ryan and Simon also work at my chiropractic clinic.
